Your First Kung Fu Class
Congratulations on taking the first step. Here’s a list of things you should be aware of for your first class:
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the class starts. This allows us to meet with you to explain a little about our history and how the class operates and then pair you up with a training buddy.
New people are paired with a senior to ensure they get the best attention during the class.
Wear loose fitting long pants and a plain t-shirt. No shorts, singlet tops, or offensive markings/alcohol advertising.
You can bring a drink bottle if you wish or purchase one on site.
If you come with an open mind and a good attitude you will enjoy yourself.
We welcome you to your own martial arts journey.
Welcome to the Christchurch Kung Fu School!
We will open the first Shaolin Kung Fu School in Christchurch due to the increasing demand for our system within the Canterbury region.
The classes are family orientated so they are suitable for the whole family. We are a traditional style and encourage students to become martial artists by embracing values that are beneficial in their personal and professional lives.
This system uses functional cross-training exercises and techniques to help improve your health, balance, flexibility, strength, power and fitness. More importantly, we will share the traditional and extensive syllabus that emphasizes movement and self-defence applications that are both graceful and powerful.
We welcome anyone that is interested to learn Chinese martial arts (功武 gongfu) in a safe environment. This school caters to students from 7 years old to over 70 years young from central suburbs of Christchurch city (St. Albans, Merivale, Burnside, Bryndwr, Fendalton, Riccarton, Middleton, and the CBD area). For more information, please feel free to contact Jeraldine Teng at firstname.lastname@example.org
I have been training under my Sifu (师父) since 1998 in Palmerston North. The classes never failed to provide a wonderful sense of family and camaraderie. I had the privilege to travel to Malaysia to train with the Great-grand master Quek and later with the Grand master Lai in New Zealand.
This martial art has helped me develop the confidence to take on challenges in my personal and professional life. It is so much more than simply kicking and punching; it is about the values that you develop and portray while pushing your limits. It is about trying your best.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this system. Other fellow students within the system have always supported my kungfu journey and I look forward to introducing this wonderful art and network to the community in Christchurch.
